How could we live without our computers? We not only need them for work but they have also become a must have instruments for our daily lives. How could we contact our friends without email or facebook? While I love what I can do with my laptop I am always concerned about the damage that they are doing to the environment. IT companies such as Apple and Dell have been consistently on the worst polluters list. These companies have looked at their impact and are working hard to reduce it. Apple has committed to phasing out of the worst chemicals in its product range, Brominated Fire Retardants (BFRs) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) they have also started to take their products to take back their products to be recycled. Dell has become the leader in recycling and many have argued that this makes Dell the greenest company but hopefully Apple will quickly follow Dell’s lead on this point. Lets hope for a greener PC future!
